“Always be yourself, express yourself, have faith in yourself, do not go out and look for a successful personality and duplicate it.” ~Bruce Lee
When you hit your lowest point in life the only reasonable way to go is up, right? A low point can be classified in any form you want it to be. A break up, a loss, emotional problems, mental health, family sadness, etc., etc. But it has occurred to me in the past month that when you hit your lowest point, regardless of what it might be, I found that the person’s company I enjoyed most was in fact myself. Getting together with friends was amazing because I needed the support immensely, talking with my family was wonderful because I needed to get it all off my chest, but when it came down to it, I thoroughly enjoyed my own company as well. Not to sit and feel sorry for myself, but to sit in the graces of my own being and soak up my own goodness. I came to the realization that my life was becoming about a person who should have been insignificant from the moment they chose not to be a part of it. When you are at the point in your life where you’re letting other people control your emotions, thoughts, words, and actions you will soon realize that life becomes completely meaningless. You are allowing the existence of another human being to control your happiness. This is a reminder to all of you that YOU ARE YOUR OWN BEST FRIEND! When you can be your own best friend, your life will gain so much more meaning. Half of you is made up by your experiences, your friends, and your family. But the other half, is you! It’s who you create, it’s who YOU choose to be! Let’s work on enjoying our own company! Enjoying all that WE have to offer this beautiful world!
“Be yourself, but always your better self.” ~Karl G. Maeser
“My dream is of a place and a time where America will once again be seen as the last best hope of earth.” ~Abraham Lincoln
As I watched the fireworks from my picture window, I realized how thankful I was to be blessed to live in such a beautiful country! We are very lucky to live in such a wonderful place with so much abundance in love, prosperity, hope, and peace! I have to remind myself that not all humans have the privilege or opportunity to live as freely or outspokenly as we do! Let’s remember this: What we say, do, and how we go about life represents how much we appreciate being alive! Before you do anything, remember the impact you will leave on others after doing so! There is nothing more beautiful than being human, but ever more so, being a human who enjoys life and who believes it to be a beautiful place!
“I think when you spread the wealth around it’s good for everybody.” ~Barack Obama
“When we are no longer able to change a situation – we are challenged to change ourselves.” ~Viktor E. Frankl
At some point in your life, you’re going to have a change in perspective. A certain event or person will change the way you see the world. Sometimes it’s going to be a great experience and other times, it might be the most painful lesson you ever learn. No matter what, you will find afterwards that you never quite see the world as simply as you used to. Things will change and the lens you look through may be harder to see through or perhaps you will find that the view is better than ever! Everyone you meet will teach you something. At first it might be complicated and difficult to understand, but a big part of living is about learning. We must teach ourselves what pain feels like and afterwards we must learn from that pain. We must learn to take that pain and turn it into a lesson. A lesson that teaches us how to better cope with it for the next time. People are not in your life to always be a friend to you, in fact, they’re sometimes put in your world to be the very opposite of that. The question you need to ask yourself is, “What did I learn from that person and/ or experience?” People aren’t always going to give you what you expect from them. Everyone has their own unique way of viewing the world and learning. It’s our job to let people live, learn, and support them in how they decide to handle different situations. We must learn to judge less and love more, to forgive but never forget, and to feel things without letting those things harm us too deeply. Learn from everything you go through. The good…. the bad…. the tragic… and the beautiful.
“Just when I think I have learned the way to live, life changes.” ~Hugh Prather
“My name is Alyssa McCarl, I’m 19, and graduated from Helena High last year. Instead of going to college I did YWAM (Youth With A Mission) and went to Nepal and India to do mission work and focused on human trafficking prevention for women and children. Now I’m back in Helena and working as a barista at Starbucks which I love! My future plans include doing more mission work, and hopefully going back to Nepal to help with relief from the earthquake. College is possible in my future, but who knows. 🙂 It’s not on my priority list quite yet. I want my future career/life to be one that is dedicated to helping people realize and know how valuable and important their life is. I think a lot of people don’t know this and it’s really sad. I believe that every human being is amazing no matter what their circumstances are/have been and they deserve to know this and to feel loved. I think our society puts peoples values in materialistic things, like their job/degree, what they own, and their looks. These things aren’t bad, but if they are what makes you notice a person then that’s wrong in my opinion, because a person is so much more than that. There’s just so many people out there with amazing stories that deserve to be heard and if we’re not willing to go out of our comfort zone and get to know someone who might not look the best, clean or “safe” we’re kind of putting ourselves at a disadvantage because there is so much to be learned from others. I don’t know, I guess that’s just kinda how I see life, as an opportunity to love someone whose never been loved, or to meet someone with the craziest story that you have ever heard, and to just push yourself out of your comfort zone, and know that you are here to change you. So I don’t know, maybe life-style requires a degree, but maybe it just requires me to be brave and willing to just talk to people and share my heart with them. It might not make me any money, but hey, that’s okay there are enough celebrities, lawyers, and businessmen in the world. They can keep the money.
“Spread love everywhere you go, let no one ever come to you without leaving happier.” ~Mother Teresa
“Right now I am a Sophomore at UM majoring in Philosophy. The most inspirational things in my life are poetry, music, novels, my past, and my friends. My favorite and most influential artists are Sylvia Plath and Kurt Vonnegut, but my favorite book of poetry is, ‘What They Took Away’ by Dennis James Sweeney, which is an absolute masterpiece! I would recommend it to anyone. My dreams for the future are to join the Peace Corps and make a difference in someone’s life, then find a fulfilling career for myself, and someday write a novel.”
“As stupid and vicious as men are, this is a lovely day.” ~Kurt Vonnegut
“There cannot be a crisis next week. My schedule is already full.” ~Henry A. Kissinger

In order to move forward and keep going, we need a couple essential key points in mind! First, we need motivation! Motivation is the drive to keep going! That little voice inside of you that says, “Let’s try again and again until we achieve and reach success!” Next, we need hope! Hope is to keep us looking forward to what is to come! When you have hope, you always have that light at the end of the tunnel to keep going! ❤ And how about friendship? We all need great friends to have when times get tough! 🙂 Where there is wonderful friendship, there is great connection! And lastly, we need to feel AWESOME about the individuals we are! 🙂 You are wonderful individual and when You keep working towards what You want, it motivates me to keep inspiring You to keep moving forward! ❤ Let’s keep reaching for the stars and having faith that everything happens for a reason! ❤

“From the errors of others, a wise man corrects his own.” ~Publilius Syrus
It is OK to make a mistake and learn from it, but try with all of your being to not make the same mistake twice! 🙂 Become aware of your surroundings, make room for knowledge in that beautiful brain of yours, and retain the wisdom to be wise enough to know what is truly right for you and others! ❤
Wisdom is learned mostly from life experience! Life gives all of us chances to learn, grow, and become inspired! Although not all experiences that we learn from are pleasant or happy, we should try to remember that only by experiencing sadness do we learn the true pleasure and meaning of happiness! 🙂 What has life taught you so far? What wisdom have you kept within your heart to remember for times of lonliness and heart ache? What wisdom do you have yet to learn and hold onto? Remember this: Life is all about perspective! YOU pick the lens from which you view the world!
As we live on each and every day, we will learn that life is not always going to be what we expect. We will all find great wisdom if we keep our hearts open, our minds clear and optimistic, and our attitude positive! 🙂 Let’s get up and live life to the fullest! Let’s remember the beautiful individuals we are! Let’s learn from our mistakes and grow wise together! ❤
“True wisdom comes to each of us when we realize how little we understand about life, ourselves, and the world around us.” ~Socrates
“In everyone’s life, at some time, our inner fire goes out. It is then burst into flame by an encounter with another human being. We should all be thankful for those people who rekindle the inner spirit.” ~Albert Schweitzer
Today is the perfect day to talk about thankfulness! Whether life is just as you want it, or you feel that things are really bad, let’s stop, take a deep breath, and court our blessings!
More and more, I have become very aware that each day we get up, and live our lives, anything could happen! That statement is NOT to scare you, it’s just to say, “Stop, Count your blessings, and Be Thankful that YOU are alive!” It is amazing how long the average American lives without leaving the Earth sooner than expected! It is also incredibly sad how many people leave this Earth too soon!
Be happy! 🙂 Every moment you’re alive and living your life is a very wonderful moment indeed!
“Keep your eyes open to your mercies. The man who forgets to be thankful has fallen asleep in life.” ~Robert Louis Stevenson
