“If you have to choose between being kind and being right, choose being kind, and you will always be right.” – R. J Palacio
Are you one of those people who questions whether or not you’re being kind enough? Or if you care too much? Those are questions that are very normal because I think we question kindness in general. What is being kind? What is kindness? It’s simply the act of caring. It’s lending a helping hand, giving someone a hug when they are down, taking your friend out to coffee when she or he needs to talk, etc. Kindness can be shown directly and indirectly. Have you ever had someone just smile at you and your entire heart warmed up because it just made you feel that much more happy and loved? So much of the time people will use unhealthy ways to try and fulfill needs of theirs. A lot of times people will drink alcohol or rebel against the law, just to try to fill their need for love with dangerous and unhealthy acts. Why though? Why do we resort to things that have the potential to kill us? Why not resort to the loving acts that cost no money, that are stronger than any hard liquor? Hugs, kisses, smiles, candy, drawing, writing, coloring, walking, running, etc, etc. There are all sorts of beautiful ways to feel loved and cared for. We live life now a days where we spend so much time in front of the T.V, or texting on our phones, or playing on the computer that we tend forget the life that is right around us 🙂 Family, friends, nature, smiles, hugs, etc. Those all have the potential to turn our lives around!!! Make it a personal goal to spend at least one hour a day doing quality caring and kind acts! They can even be within your own home! You don’t have to go spend money on cake to make being together worthwhile. Play a board game with the kids, snuggle on the couch, have a heart to heart conversation with your loved one, etc. Anything that requires human interaction 🙂 I think you will find that your heart feels warmer, happier, and healthier when you make the effort to spend time with the people you love! ❤ Here are several helpful tips to help categorize all this information:
1.) S-M-I-L-E!!! 🙂 🙂 🙂 It is one of our greatest gifts in this world!!! Smiling can change our entire day!! A smile has the power to make a bad day, good; a sad heart, happy; an acquaintance, a friend; etc, etc. Never underestimate the power of your wonderful smile!
2.) Keep an open heart and an open mind. Do not become bitter because of sour moments that aren’t worth remembering! You have the power to give! All of us do! Don’t shut out the world because you are afraid of being hurt! Instead, let that be your incentive to love even MORE! Mother Theresa has a beautiful quote that says, “Spread love everywhere you go. Let no one ever come to you without leaving happier.”
3.) Love often, hate less!! Love as much as you can! We can always find a reason to hate, but in the long run loving is healthier AND it takes less energy to love someone than it does to hate them! True fact 🙂
4.) BE KIND AND CARE!! 🙂 All of us are fighting our own battles! You never have any idea of what some one else could be going through! Who are we to judge? A battle cannot easily be fought alone! We need the support of each other to survive each and every bump in the road that we stumble across in life.
No one gets out of this world alive. In other words, we all die eventually so love as much as you can while you’re here. ❤
“Not all of us can do great things. But we can do small things with great love.” -Mother Theresa
